I am still concerned with the Operating Margin and Net Margin.

I understand your concern and to that end I was pleased with their plans to increase exposure in the access area. High-speed will accelerate in '99 and take off in 2000, and I suspect margins there will compensate for any that erode in other areas. To my knowledge few have articulated the impact of DSP-based products and their high-margin s/w upgrades. Analysts who follow the core companies understand, but they're a rare breed and most won't highlight the technology until deployment ramps and results show up on the bottom line.

It's up to us to put two and two together.

And that's where the fun begins.

Pat
