Actually, I met Ives at MacWorld and he said that Apple purposefully kept iMac under wraps in order to exact maximum impact at its release, so anything you may hear on the rumor mills is as likely to be disinformation.

Going on what Apple has already *said*, we can expect a kick-ass pro-line hardware with high tech styling, high performance processor (copper G3/G4/Altivec) plus all the latest ports, slots and busses. 4Q of calender 1998?

Also expect a portable iMac which, like the eMate 300, will be suitable for children of all ages. 1-2Q of 1999?

Thereafter, as Jobs said, expect each product quadrant to get a refresh on a 9 month rotation.
