David,
Good company news, bad market news. Could be rough tomorrow if the Monica effect gets out of control.
NW
MARKET NEWS: U.S. stocks tumbled Tuesday as the stepped-up pace
of events in the White House scandal added to the bearish brew
already rattling investors. The Dow closed off 93 points at 8935,
recovering late session from a slide of more than 200 points.
Stocks were already weaker before news broke midsession that
Monica Lewinsky, the former intern at the center of the White
House scandal, will testify to the grand jury probing cover-up
allegations in return for immunity from prosecution. On the NYSE,
breadth remained dismally negative, with declining issues
trouncing advances by almost three-to-one in heavy trading, with
703 million shares changing hands. The Nasdaq closed off 37 points
at 1896. The S&P 500 fell 17 points to 1130. The 30-year Treasury
was off 1/2 point to yield 5.74%. For the full text story, see
