It's totally legal and all part of the game. First amendment applies to all. SEC has no jurisdiction. But the tactic does have it's drawbacks. It has been used so often and is so widespread that few investors ever fall for it anymore. Plus, sheer repetition has made them so easy to spot that they need to get more inventive to remain effective. Personally, I would try coming onto the thread as a supporter for a while, then pretend to find out something really bad about the Co., then start bashing. This might fool somebody. djb
