Back to speculatin'. WorldCom seems a logical suitor, as they aggressively expand into Europe. The AT&T/BT link up places even greater pressure on the WC/MCI team. This is going to be one helluva battle between these two camps, and I suspect other companies will be sucked into the fray whether they like it or not. Sprint is still chugging along, but my guess is that Deutsche Telecom (sp?) will make a play for the rest of Sprint very soon. No one else in Europe has the wherewithal to play on this court. NorTel may form an alliance with USWest. Keep a look out.

The DCI's of the world become the small pieces of the puzzle that are added to establish a beach head (no, not THAT beach head!) within certain key markets. WorldCom has to go right at BT if it hopes to be competitive. That's where a DCI play makes sense. Moreover the dinky country of the Netherlands (with Flanders/Belgium as a cultural/industrial ally) has become the financial locus of the EU, and hence, another key launching pad. Again, a DCI tie-in (if I remember correctly).

Oh well, that's enough for now. Bon voyage to all headin' south. Don't forget your sun screen!

Edit: it's nice not to see so much virtual high-fiving and the like on this thread. Of course, that may be because most are on their way to Florida, but I like to think that we have settled into a comfortable pattern and are content to let the Murph work his magic. ggg.
