Don't get me wrong, I own KO and have never sold any shares (although I have given some away as wedding and birthday gifts).

But, do you remember New Coke? Do you know how much advertising costs are? Do you know what it costs to launch a new product?

And you still have to deal with start-ups a la Snapple, Dr. Pepper, Mountain Dew, Gatorade, and that stuff they prefer in India.

If they stop investing in microprocessors they may not have an economy that can falter.

But in a sense they are similar, in that they sell the real stuff that is inside - only Dell, Gateway, Packard Bell, et al are to Intel, the bottling companies are to Coke.
