I think they are a private company. I will do some research. It will be interesting who the principals are and what other corporate relationships they have. Are they working closely with SUNW and/or IBM?

You know if this company can achieve these results, then other companies have optimized JAVA compilers under development.

On a second item, I visited a local (start up) company ENCANTO Networks last week (located in Silicon Valley). In their computer lab they have a working low cost Internet E-Commerce server which has a JVM (Java Virtural Machine)engine powered with a Cyrix 150 processor. The bench test shows that this low end server can perform 22 simultaneous transactions per second. Pretty good for a JVM machine.

Note: Encanto Networks product "e.go" was the winner of PC-EXPO 1998 of Best of Show, Intranets & E-commerce.

ENCANTO Networks is working closely with SUNW and is using their JDK development software to build their product interface.

The next wave of JAVA and JINI products are now under development in many of the software labs here in Silicon Valley and many research facilities as demonstrated by Instantiations press release today.

Look for more announcements in the future....it appears that those performance concerns for JAVA are being resolved.
