Year 2000 Wire/Award Software's Millennium/Pro Provides Automatic Year 2000 BIOS Protection for PCs and Embedded Systems
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 27, 1998--Award Software International Inc. (Nasdaq: AWRD - news) today announced Millennium/Pro, an ISA card that ensures Year 2000 BIOS compliance for most x86-based PCs and embedded systems.

By the end of 1999, over 15 million 486-based systems and tens of millions of Pentium-based systems in use worldwide may not be Year 2000 (Y2K)-compliant. To be Y2K-compliant, a system must have three Y2K-compliant components: the operating system, such as Microsoft Windows 95, the application software and the BIOS. Award's Millenium/Pro ISA card solves the Y2K BIOS problem by allowing a system's internal clock to correctly and automatically roll over to the new millennium. Millennium/Pro provides a precise, accurate, non-disruptive solution to continue operations into the Year 2000 and beyond.

Elizabeth-Hata International, a Pennsylvania-based manufacturer of world-class tooling and machinery for the pharmaceutical tableting industry, has turned to Millennium/Pro to solve its Year 2000 BIOS compliance issues. ''Elizabeth-Hata International is committed to addressing the quickly approaching Year 2000 dilemma. Millennium/Pro provides us with a fast, easy-to-use solution for Y2K BIOS compliance on our internal systems as well as those of our customers,'' said Russ Booth, software manager and Year 2000 coordinator for Elizabeth-Hata International. ''With a minimal investment of time and money we are assured of Year 2000 BIOS compliance for our PCs.''

''All PCs are potentially involved with the Year 2000 problem to some extent. Millennium/Pro offers cost-effective assurance of Year 2000 BIOS compliance for businesses and home users of ISA-based PCs and embedded systems,'' said Laurent Gharda, vice president of marketing, Award Software. ''Millennium/Pro is easy to install and ensures that the Y2K-compliant operating system and applications will be given the correct date by the underlying hardware. Just plug it in and you're done.''

To check a system for Year Y2K BIOS compliance, a user may download from Unicore Software's web site (www.unicore.com), Millennium/Pro Check, an easy-to-use, free program that tests a system for Year 2000 compliance in seconds. If the test indicates the BIOS is not Y2K compliant, the user can simply plug the Millennium/Pro card into an 8-Bit ISA or EISA bus slot. ISA bus slots have been standard on DOS- and Windows-based systems since IBM introduced the standard in 1981. Millennium/Pro will intercept and correct all Year 2000 problems related to the system's BIOS.

Price and Availability

Millennium/Pro is sold through Unicore Software, Inc., an Award Software subsidiary. Millennium/Pro is available now for $79.95.
