It's "Barton" Biggs.

When this market cracks the items you mentioned will be the excuses, not the real causes.

Just like inflation and oil prices were used to excuse away the 1970's.

The real reason will be, as always, the end of the cycle where stocks become historically overvalued.

And new investors become convinced that the market will go up forever, because they want it to. (oh--plus all those great reasons like baby boomer retirement money)

Right now we are oversold enough to get a rally. But the smart money will be selling into it.

As always.

Dwight

Quad-k & all

I was at my broker this afternoon, he said that NOVL should announce NW 5 release date on Friday July 31,1998 or Monday August 3, 1998.

JUST PASSING THE INFO!

OTS: Lewinsky deal and the Market

Everyone from CNNfn to QuadK is mentioning the Lewinsky deal as a contributor to latest market decline. This would imply that Mr. Clinton is somehow directly responsible for our healthy economy. He is, after all, one politician among many who could be given credit. However, I would tend to look elsewhere first when passing out credit. Strong economic policy hasn't been one of Clinton's fortes, IMO. If there is actually a criminal running the country, wouldn't it be a good thing to remove him from office? Would it effect the productivity of corporate America if he was removed? stayed? I am young and must be naive about such things. Someone please help me understand why this should be so. That Asian problems, weak corporate earnings, and potentially higher interest rates would effect the Stock Market all make sense to me.

Thanks,
Procreant
