Sonki,

WLA- for a position trader, WLA might be a great short. But it is not one I'd feel comfortable advising someone else to do . It is still far above the 70 DEMA.. Don't have my data for tonite , so that may change in about 30 minutes. My gut feel for shorting this type of stock is that an S&P or large cap , blue chip can come roaring back so fast, it makes me uncomfortable. So they are not my first pick for shorts. But being in trouble ??? If you are committed to keeping an eye on them, I MIGHT try it.

MSPG - again too high above the 70 DEMA for me. and I wouln't feel comfortable shorting it in front of the Geocities IPO.... which may boost that sector( unless I was looking for a quick trade - which I do often - just not sure if that's what you're looking for )

What I look for in a short is 1) a micro, small or mid cap ( NOT in the S&P) 2) missed earnings report or warnings 3) below an important DEMA 3) continued drop just before I place my order.

If they have those criteria, I have found , that in a market envirionment such as we are in now, they tend to keep dropping.

I'm not an expert on shorting ... but this is a system that works for me. Everyone has their own pet points - these are mine. Try to remember - that for a short , you want all the opposites of what you would look for in a long position.

I still like WCOM.. and I'm looking for the optimal enry point.... and for me that will prob be in Aug. But I bet in options - that is prob a good one.

Bev

Sonki - relooked at the chart on MSPG with tonite's numbers. Certainly looks as if there's money to be made... but MSPG is a little too volatile for me. I'd be afraid to leave my PC during the day.. it goes up just as easily as it goes down. Think I'd just as soon stick to stocks that are already commited to their downtrend .
But that's just me.
