Marconi, Dennis Hayes got the convert holders in Hayes Corp. (HAYZ, the modem maker) to stop by filing suit. I think he has settled with all of them now, but the stock is barely over $2 after trading as high as $13 1/2 before the death spiral started (and as low as $1 3/8 since). How much damage was done to existing shareholders before he stopped them I don't know, but other victims might want to study how he did it.
