Yogi,

I actually think , at least for me, the real draw is being able to carry around my musical play list on my laptop. Although the convenience of changing from one artist to another, on a song to song basis, without changing disks, is very appealing.

<<Why should I use any of my desktop storage space for music playlists?>>

For the same reason we will all want our personal files. To have control, complete and unadulterated, over content and terms of access. These will form the "level 1" in our "hierarchy" of storage. Lesser songs we may play in streaming mode from the net, just like we will other "soft" ware. But we have a way to go to get there in terms ogf bandwidth, as you said.
Best,
Stitch
