I estimate Dell's earnings at .51/share with a 2 for 1 split. I am shaving a .05 of my estimate for Dell's branding campaign.

I found this letter about DELL on thestreet.com. Anyone in Austin want to comment?

For the Dell of It

James Cramer: I live in Austin, and thought I'd pass along a "man on the
street" observation about Dell. I've met lots of Dell employees (hard not to
in Austin!), and I've never run across another company whose employees
more universally disliked working there. They have plenty of less than fond
references to "Dell Hell" and "Dellcatraz". Turnover is very high; coupled
with their phenomenal growth rate, it means that more than half of their
line employees have been there less than one year. More than one person
has referred to the golden handcuffs of soaring options.

I think Dell's a fantastic business, certainly the top success story of the 90's.
But such a strong dissention in the ranks always raises a red flag for me. If
they hit any kind of sustained bump, the shallowness of employee loyalty
could really hurt them. Not to take away anything from what Michael's
accomplished - just another factor to file away for consideration.
