actually this is not necessarily a response to Judy's post.... it's a general question......

anyone familiar with the possibility of Goldman Sachs going public??? they made an announcement on June 15 that they are considering an IPO.... what do you think?

Yes, I agree the risk between the two approaches is comparable. I would not recommend shorting to anyone in this market unless that are an experienced trader with a proven track record, and they have shorted successfully before. My effort is to make the risk very apparent so some of the strategies proposed by others on this thread. If my efforts get them to reconsider their position, then I will consider my goal a success even when they choose to stick with their game plan. This is one area that I do think tends to be overlooked, that of an objective analysis of the risk to potential profit of a trade. Part of this is based on one's experience in successfully executing the given type of trade. Another variable is the market itself that sets the backdrop.

Your post from the CMGI thread is a classic! Even in my very serious frame of mind due to the time I am spending on this high pressure project that I am on, I could not help but smile.

Thank you Judy for bringing this post to my attention! I can use a few laughs right now.

Judy, re DELL naked calls.

Given the wild moves in the market mixed in with earnings and split speculation, there's always the danger of a big gap up; in which case the stop won't help ( unless I'm missing something). Thanks for the always informative posts, I've been lurking and learning !
