"Bob, Give it a rest. Don't bother communicating with those fools. They take great delight in anybody addressing a message to them. In their minds it is pure entertainment and they couldn't care less about investment discussions. I haven't seen one post with any content worthy of anybody responding to them."

On some online conferencing systems it's called "trolling" and it's so rampant in this thread that the thread is essentially unreadable. Unreadable in the sense that there's so little signal and so much noise, why, it's gotten almost as bad as USENET. Of course, the Yahoo threads are just as bad. It's what happens when a) people can post anonymously and b) there's no conference moderators. [Makes one wonder what the real value of SI is, and whether Go2Net paid way too much for it, but that's another story.]

Re: Not One?

I haven't seen one post with any content worthy of anybody responding to them.

Well, thank you very much. Barry's responses to my posts -- in spite of our disagreement -- have kept me from saying "pearls before Lake Liganders" and leaving this thread to the pathologically optimistic. I hope to continue the dialog with him later this week (the rest of my life permitting).

The negativists aren't the only ones who have attenuated the signal on this thread.

Speaking of communication, a recent court ruling could have some significant positive impact on Biotechs like LGND. The new FDA modernization act has a provision to loosen up off-label promotion of drugs by allowing companies to apply for permission to promote off label usage by distribution peer reviewed scientific articles.

However, a judge has ruled that current regulations that prohibit off label promotions violate free speech and companies can promote off-label use without FDA approval:

Today's WSJ is also carrying the story on off-label promotions. I have linked the WSJ and Bloomberg stories to the Biotech Boom table at home.att.net
