Druss,

"Shorts are market sharp individuals who will have studied a company they are shorting very carefully, they will have found something they like before initiating a position."

Would you expound upon the something they like portion of you statement?

Thanks in advance.

steve

Thank you Druss and Barbara for your replies.
Druss regarding this statement - Having the certificates in your possession could mean significant delays and losses.
Yes I agree and that is why I hardly ever request certificates, but have you ever heard of "safe keeping"? This apparently is a proceedure where you request your broker to pull shares out of street name and issue certificates, but the broker keeps the certificates at the brokerage house. I don't know if every broker offers this and if there are additional charges. From the two answers to my original question I get the feeling that this isn't necessary!
