I certainly do not have all the answers, but I would say that somewhere in the different possibilities of what you have said the truth rests.

In addition are the momentum players, people taking profits, and any other speculator (or investor), that feels that the market (and the stock) is overpriced for now, there are certainly some valid (fundamental) reasons that would support this.

In addition, LU was in all time high territory, it may be retracing and as we speak forming areas of new support/resistance. If you think in terms of of moving averages, 86 is its 30 day moving average, take your pick as to where it will land ...

The time to sell was when it was at 108 etc. even today if you think that it will go lower, (and assuming you are in the black and taxes will not reduce your net gain by much).

The charts will help you determine that.

While I do not argue that in the short term we may see these prices for a time (I do not know for how long), or even lower, the basic idea of the company is still very sound, growing industry, diversified, currency risk is relatively minimal, contracts being announced, and in general interest rates are at 5.75 % or thereabouts.

In 1987, interest were higher I believe in the 8 to 9 % (I do not remember)

The US economy in spite of whatever, is steady and the US dollar is not being devaluated against any currency, gold (not many agree with this), is, as a currency base, dead.

You have an entire world wanting to communicate with each other, and LU seems to be in the right industry to assist them, I wonder if the TELEBRASIL break-up may be beneficial for LU....

Alternatively, of course, one could buy a bunch of LOTTO tickets.... the return could be unbeatable......

Of course the above is only my opinion.

I heard on CNBC today that all telecom equipment stocks got hit in the last several sessions despite their extraordinary fundamentals. It was mentioned the reason is that a lot of people were worried about the market and they wanted to lock in their profits and their sellings drove the prices down, they are ready to jump back in as soon as the market stabilizes.

IMHO -

Sellers : big profits, wanted to take some as LU was on quite a roll.
Maybe not looking at the great long term fundamentals.

Buyers : Long term - very smart, looking for a bargain.
The old expression is so true.... buy your straw hats in winter. Is now true with LU.

Good investing to all !
