Thanks for your posts, John. I'm about to put together a super 7 system myself, hence for me your timing is excellent.

Good prices on the Matrox boards--where'd you pick them up?

Any particular reason you chose the FIC board? I assume it has been trouble free and plays nicely with both Matrox boards?

I gather you haven't tried a multi-monitor config under NT with these two cards?

Regards,

Dave

>>the APG slot my primary card.<<

I believe this is a bios issue. The bios scans the PCI slots first. Some of the very latest bios revisions have an option to select the AGP slot as first found. BTW bios updates can be risky.

Matrox display properties in the Matrox power desk with the multi-monitor setup you must use the display properties in Windows.

I tried a lot of different things and do not remember the details. I recall two multimonitor setups. The first seemed to be a Windows setup. On boot there was a message that the Matrox power desk could not load. In display properties / settings?/monitor the Matrox power desk was non existent.

Win98 was loading monitor drivers on every boot because it found new hardware. The Win98 monitor drivers were preventing Matrox power desk from loading. In device manager I disabled the monitor attached to the AGP card. With the Win98 disabled monitor Matrox power desk loaded. I was then able to activate the second monitor in the display properties box(s). Perhaps I would have had better luck if I had stuck with the first setup. Or perhaps I should have disabled both monitors in device manager??
