For what it's worth, this thread is useful and Mr. Graham seems to have a very thoughtful perspective.

drsvelte, quick look at some of the fundamentals on your technical picks - (it's late):

RML: Trading at its 52 week high? Don't know why - probably some other reason-

RML is an international designer, manufacturer and marketer of activewear, athletic uniforms, knit shirts, leisure apparel, licensed sports apparel, socks, lightweight fabrics, and yarn-dyed woven fabrics. For the 13 weeks ended 4/5/98, sales fell 1% to $256.2 million. Net income fell 84% to $1.8 million. Revenues reflect lower prices in the distributor market. Earnings also suffered from non-recurring charges associated with the retirement/replacement of the Chairman.

recent news:
Leisure apparel maker Russell Corp. (RML) closed flat at 29 5/8 after the company said it plans to take a restructuring charge of between $100 million and $125 million, most of which will be felt in its third quarter. The company also posted second-quarter earnings of 18 cents a share, 2 cents ahead of the Zacks consensus estimate.

SRA: Company declines comment on 20% rise in stock price today. Has some kind of alliance with ZITEL?
--------------------------------------------------------------------

UTR: Up 10% on who knows ?

MERRIMACK, N.H.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 29, 1998--Unitrode Corporation (NYSE:UTR - news), a manufacturer of analog/linear and mixed-signal integrated circuits, announced that, at its Annual Meeting held today at its Merrimack, NH, headquarters, stockholders approved the issuance of up to 8.6 million shares in connection with the previously announced merger with BENCHMARQ Microelectronics, Inc. and elected William W.R. Elder a director. Also, at today's meeting, Robert Gable, Chairman of the Board, was re-elected as a director with a term expiring in 2001; Robert J. Richardson, President and Chief Executive Officer, was elected to fill a term as director, expiring in 2000. The merger is expected to close on August 3, 1998. Under the terms of the agreement, Benchmarq shareholders will receive one share of Unitrode common stock for each share of Benchmarq common stock held as of the closing. At the meeting, stockholders also ratified an increase of one million shares available for grant under Unitrode's stock option plan.

shorts:

TTC - not much volume- you're right Doc, would be slow - we know how that goes.

WCAP - I am clueless as to what they do... some kind of financing ... Given the rocketlike price move I think it may be drug running. gg Thean - expert on drug delivery - you probably know. Oh, just reread your message: It's Geocities IPO. Same thing.

With all the sacrificing going on - on a daily basis I thought the casket co. might be good for a point - that's all I ask. Would be less risky if the general trend was up though, you're correct Thean.
