T.G.W. ... It is true ... when anyone tries to contribute some useful information you twist and turn and make it negative. >>>Wow! Another mental midget long on insults and bad language and short on anything else. My, my .. that wasn't insulting was it !! But seriously .. you are right. I started it ... and I apologize. Insults have no place if you are trying to carry on a serious discussion, which I was trying to do by the way. >>>It shows that you have no personal experience at all with any of the tribes. I spent a week in Grand Cayman, and dinner just a few days ago with the Tribal Administrator ( a personal friend ). My wife and I do in excess of 100K/yr. with the tribe. >>>Their Federally recognized representative is Harvard educated and is doing very well for the tribe My guy went to Harvard also (studied law).. that is my point exactly. The younger member are getting an education .. the problem is that the "elders" make the final decisions, and many are uneducated. >>>You have mistaken the traditional form of government with, ie; the elders council, with the day to day running of their enterprises. I have mistaken nothing. I deal with it on a weekly basis. True, the administrator takes care of the day to day, as I previously stated, but the council MUST approve any major contracts. >>>"the elders are very often loathe to take their advise on investment and consulting matters, especially when they deal with outsiders" is very true Appearantly you did get the point of my post, despite the hyperbole >>>They may have a traditional form of government but they are not stupid. Did I ever say they were stupid ? I said many lacked formal education and were not sophisticated in business and financial matters. One could say the were ignorant, but certainly NOT stupid. This is almost a direct quote from the T.A. ( a personal friend ) who faces the daily frustration of trying to explain million dollar deals with 80 year old men with no education. I am not trying to insult anyone. I am stating facts as they exist AT THIS TRIBE, IN MY OWN EXPERIENCE. As an example, these guys bring in over $10M A MONTH at the casino !!!! The elders put the money into CD's at the local bank so it is safe. Is that wise ??? You be the judge .... The T.A. has made every effort to expand beyond gaming into "real" businesses because the Governor of California has declared war on the gaming tribes, but to no avail. He is frustrated to no end because, again, the final decisions are made by the "elders". So .. having said all that I will restate that in my experience dealing with tribal councils and in MY OWN OPINION, I would give Gary the benefit of the doubt. Any contract with a Tribe is a major milestone .. give it some time. Again .. I apologize for the insults .. and I hope I have made my point more clearly. I will give you the benefit of the doubt and believe that you are truly trying to gather any useful information instead of merely shooting down those who try to provide it, I hope this helps. Also, since you speak with such authority .. If you have ANY personal business experience with ANY tribe .. please share it with us .. Thanks.
