The SI database did not number posts permanently, when offending messages were deleted all the posts shifted, much like we are doing today. There was however, no absolute way to link. Any links in the thread after the post was removed would be shifted as well. So the games was break the link. The set up was always an ignorant but poorly crafted flame. This flame would be directed at a member of the "inside group", it could then be removed by an "inside" complaint if necessary. This served to render all links useless for later readers. Now Greymatter I think we are a little in the vintaged side for childish tricks of this nature don't you think ? I mean, you are starting to sound like those horrible self proclaimed vigilantes of SI.... Something like that ? now, who complains at this point?, oh yes ! does the "flame" guarantees me all the "cool" numbers?
