The advantage of down-loadable, high quality weather data is big for all levels of aviation. The cost of a weather radar system is very high, for the quality of the weather images that I suspect the ECCO system can provide. Although modern weather radar systems are a lot smaller, and capable than they used to be , they are very expensive, they require a lot of space, add significant weight to the aircraft, require more wiring etc.etc. If a high quality weather presentation system becomes available, I think that many aircraft will be equipped with the system rather than the conventional radars being installed today. This system will allow pilots to call up data from a site that they can't even see using Radar... I see this as a long term earner... (Avionics Developer - Worked in the industry 18 Years)
