Some new info from RS analyst that came out today...

TDFX

Management updated investors on the state of the business. The company has rolled-out its new Voodoo Banshee product for the higher volume mid-range PC markets.

Banshee represents an important new step for the company outside of its core high-end gamer market, which 3Dfx dominates.

Greg Ballard, 3Dfx CEO, discussed key benchmark numbers for Banshee, which show it leading the pack of competitors at the same price point.

Initial contribution form Banshee is expected in the current September quarter with a stronger ramp in the December quarter. An enhanced version of Banshee with 2x AGP capability is expected to be in production in Q1:99 to drive growth in 1999.

They maintain their Strong Buy recommendation...

Last I heard, Quantum3D is a private company, whose management came from/worked for 3dfx during its startup.>>

Quantum 3D was a spin off of 3DFX during the IPO. In the early days of real 3D graphics, 3DFX had to create there own boards via Quantum (targeted to arcade machines) and there own software via Interactive
