Dear Chris,

I think you are under the impression that TSIG has invited people to visit the site. www.compactconnections.com is a site that's undergoing construction when it was disovered by a member in this thread.

The company that's building the site has impeccable track record: Valley Media. So, they are doing as good as a job as CDNow and/or musicblvd when their site was underconstruction.

I did test you what you said. When I typed in "beatles" under FAST FIND (artist) -- I come up with a blank page. But when I typed in "beatles" in Sounds Like Search, I get all the info I need. I think the database is partially taken on and offline as they make progress to the search engine. I take that as a sign that things are moving along : the necessary invisible things are being worked on, things that make a website work.

But I definitely got to say, the site is not ready for a review or critique right now. I agree that it could do a lot better. But give them some benefit of the doubt. The site is not finished. You need to let them work on the fine details that make a smooth and attractive site. So far, I'm satisfied to know that they have a in-depth and comprehensive catalog (wait on Classical, Family, and Easy Listening to come online) as well as real audio samples on the majority of newer titles.

How about a page that says, "Site still in beta--please try again on August 1. Thank you for using Compact Connection..." or something like that?

I agree wholeheartedly with your comment. I too would have liked that approach. I should have asked them about that when I was there the other day.

Looks like it was an error or just a decision that will have a positive meaning further down the line. Really too soon to tell.
