Ben, no offense, but I for one have never heard of you and would not "jump into" AMZN options based on anyone's "Max-Pain" thesis or calculation. I asked Gary the question because I wasn't sure what his numbers were meant to convey. FWIW, I agree with your statement that any possible "Max-Pain" effect is easily overwhelmed (if it exists at all). I have noticed a kind of gravitational effect pulling very liquid large caps like HWP toward the nearest strike on expiry day, but I doubt it is a tradeable phenomenon.

I'm sure it is an interesting academic study though. Perhaps I'll drop by your Web site and read up.
