No digital TV planned for Afghanistan......... Taliban Smashes TVs in Kabul KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) - Afghanistan's religious police today hauled televisions from stores and smashed them on the streets, destroying the latest item forbidden under their strict version of Islam. Soon after capturing Kabul in 1996, the Taliban began their campaign against entertainment with a ban on all music except religious songs. The only movie theater in Kabul was closed and books and other publications published outside Afghanistan were banned.
