If you open a brokerage account at Datek, you can get unlimited free real time quotes. I enter the 10 stocks in which I am interested and leave a browser open to just this site. When I want an update, I return to this browser and hit "refresh". When the site queries "Repost form data?", I hit "enter" (yes), and the quotes update.

Zeem *OT*

I have used INTERQUOTE for the last 15 months or so, very reliable, but Internet based. They will be introducing NASDAQ Level II shortly.
Check them out at Interquote.Com.

John

PS - Real time 'streaming' quotes (including charting capabilities in real time and alarms, etc) will run you around 80 bucks/month for NYSE and NASDAQ. You can get snapshot quotes (pretty useless for watching trading) for around 30 bucks/month, and also free at some sites, but with a limited amount of 'free' quotes per day...

Quote.com makes my browser crash occasionally. It's a real pain to reload and configure all the windows I use. I use myTrack which displays realtime quotes for up to 20 symbols, including options, for $20/mo +exchange fees. Also has RT news and other features - and is kind to my browser.

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a wonderful day!!!

Just in case any of you don't know about it:
thomsonrtq.com

Free real time quotes, 50 per day per account (Now don't go creating more than 1 account to get more than 50... wink wink.)

Internet quotes may not be the best thing for daytraders but personally I'm sort of in the middle, buy in the am & hopefully sell by the close. It suits my needs. For option quotes I just use my broker's website (Scottrade).

If you're that paranoid about getting your account broken into (which is most likely not something that you should need to worry about) then I would suggest just opening a spare account with a small amount so you get the advantages of an online broker; such as research, quotes, etc.

This is also a good idea for those of you who are afraid to use a credit card over the web. Go get a spare card & insist on a small credit limit (like $300). Then only use that card for web purchases.

Anyone else notice the 8+ point drop yesterday in Lycos? I saw that last night, and after seeing the S&P this morning I just had to buy some calls at the open. Sold at 3:56pm for an 80% profit!!! (ok it was only a few calls nothing to risky but still gotta love those %)

I think one of the former posts may have a point about another drop mid next week. The market has a wonderful habit of over-reacting to things. Last week more or less a correction. Now we're gonna have a few days of build up (which will surely be overdone again). Then right back to the downside. It may follow this sort of irratic bouncing for the next 2 months or so. Which certainly doesn't bother me cause I just LOVE volatility! Of course none of this will get me to budge on me Dell shares. The only way I'm making any move on Dell is if there is a major runup before earnings it may be time to sell some & then buy back after the post earnings dip. Remember the market theme, "buy on rumor, sell on news" You can expect a drop a day or 2 after earnings.

My crystal ball says 125 at earnings release.
