I wouldn't want some hacker to have that much ease of access to my portfolio.

I have no concerns about this at all. If this was happening, it would be front page news. My account has a logon ID, then a password, then another password to execute trades. It would be much easier for someone to impersonate me over the phone. You must be getting killed on commissions. I can buy/sell 1000 shares of most stocks for $29.
