Intel controls the cards: pricing, technology, etc. not the other way around.

During the last two years Intel has been rapidly losing control of the desktop and notebook market (Cyrix MediaGX is the CPU in the top selling notebook.) Their current business model is very dependent on obscene margins from Xeon. I expect to see Compaq and AMD aggressively attacking Intel's position in the server and workstation marketplace as well.
