Mr. Knowitall,

the discussion you have so blithely entered, is NOT about DELL acquiring anyone--that idea was long ago discussed on this thread and discarded--but whether one of DELL's competitors could more successfully compete by purchasing GTW, a computer company already in the direct market. Then the acquirer could mount a double edged attack, maintaining its current channel, but using GTW to direct market itself.

As far as I know, none of the regular posters to this thread seriously entertains the idea of DELL acquiring any other company, for precisely the reasons you mention: Dell appears to be the ultimate in targeted market specialization
