If I were an ASND customer needing a server to support SS7, I'd say give me the HP box. Don't give me that Stratus crap. If I were a carrier, I wouldn't play around with 2nd-tier hardware. Just give me HP--I know what I'm getting there. Only a few $k bucks extra. No big deal. I think Ascend management knows this very well. They don't need Stratus.

>>Bloomberg TV is talking about ASND buying Stratus all morning.

yea, and I believe Advanced Fibre (AFCI) was hyped by the media too. And it
turned out there was absolutely nothing behind the rumor.

I bet you it's HWP or SUNW who's in talks to buy SRA. But the manipulators have a short position in ASND that they desperately want out of. And so, they're trying to use this to their advantage. This is complete horsecrap. Telecom providers are extremely conservative and risk-averse. There is no way they would buy servers from other than a first-tier name-brand company (IBM/SUNW/HWP). Why in the world would ASND want SRA???
