DELL MUST BE VERY BUSY! 13 day shipment on Dimension Don Cart configured a powerhouse desktop for me which I ordered at the stockholders meeting 7/17. Last week I upgraded the hard drive to 16 Gigs and got confirmation 7/24. 7/27 I spoke to the gracious Pam Byrd who said shipment would be about 8/6, 13 days after the confirmation. I paid by credit card on 7/17. Yesterday the card co said the $3,500 charges had not come thru. This suggests 2 things: Both are Great news! 1. Dell will wait to ship before they apply charges. It's a paid sale, but it looks like they don't want to recognize it this quarter. This says Dell has completed it's objectives and is ahead of the street and everybody else. 2. Dell has so many orders that shipment has slowed. I wanted a $999 Compacted Phewio but then I heard the Masterful Monologue of Michael the Magnificent I was Mesmerized. Next his loyal henchman Don Cart twisted my arm and I lost all resistance. So this is what I'm forced to accept instead of my longed-for Comeback Special: DELL Dimension XPS R400MHz PII, 512 Cache 256MB 100MHz SDRAM 16.8GB EIDE Ultra ATA HD Turtle Beach Montego A3D 64-Voice PCI Audio Card 56K Modem Altec Lansing ACS speakers w/separate subwoofer STB nVidia Video Card Zip Drive 3.5 Floppy Drive PCI, DVD Decoder Card Windows 98 MS Office, small business edition MS Bookshelf Intuit, Quicken Deluxe 98 HP Scanjet 5100CSE Scanner 3 year next day in-my-home service contract Tax, S&H No Monitor $3.532.98 [plus a new kitchen for my wife] Like I said so many times before: there's just no market for the hi-priced Dreams Dell is attempting to push on their customers. Sub $1,000 is where the action is, after all Herr Pfeiffer says it's the most profitable box in their line.THANK YOU DON CART!!! drm
