Looking at some of Rationals competitors, Select (SLCTY) today
reported a huge loss, the firing of their president, and
announced big cutdowns in employees and R&D. Select is a
more serious competitor to Rational in Europe than in the US,
but is in very big trouble now. Stock down around 40% today.

Cayenne (CAYN) has postponed their earnings announcements, and have already made cutbacks. Their stock is now a penny stock. Both CAYN and SLCTY (or at least their share holders) are praying to be acquired by someone (though I don't think it will be Rational in either case).

I guess of the traditional competitors only Platinum (PLAT) is doing well, though from my (brief) analysis their not directly competing with Rational as they used to (more specializing in data modeling tools).

Rational is becoming the "safe and natural choice" for anyone
looking for their kind of products, and they are destined to
increase their market leading position.

Any "real" competitors out there that I haven't thought about?
What are the competitors in the test tools market?
