One paranoia INCY has is that a small biotech could intentionally or inadvertantly release the contents of the database into the public domain. One sure fire way around this is to not actually give the dbase to small biotechs, but to provide them with INCY personnel to do the computer work, similar to how INCY worked with Pfizer initially.

As far as functional genomics goes, that is one of the areas that their Genome Systems subsidiary in St. Louis is focused on. They are big on using mice among other means to elucidate functional genomics.
