I don't disagree with you about the double-standards, and the hypocrisy of the non-proliferation regime etc. What I am saying is that the manner in which India is reacting is not going to be in its interests.

India has to take a cue from Chinese (who are also -- looking at it from your world-view -- non-whites) on how to deal with situations like this. But don't expect anything from the present mindless lot at the helm of affairs in India. If anything, they are sure to take India further down the drain.

International relations are like a game in the sense that you should plan and make your moves astutely. But it is also not like a game in the sense that if you cry "Foul!", the game doesn't stop!

They can do anything they damn well please. They do not need the permission or approval of the mafia clan. Anything they do or dont do would be voluntarily or in agreements (on an equal basis and not as beggars)

Three words to remember : "stoop", "to" and "conquer".

And btw, I said "1990's" and not just "1990". And no, we are not "talking 1995", as you put it. We are talking 1998, which is in the 1990's :-)

Dipy.

Ratan:
And not allowing Indian scientists to attend meetings in the US when they didnt even stop Russian scientists form these meetings (oh yeah whites again) during the height of cold war.

This eviction of Indian scientists from USA is not unlike the situation created for the long-suffering children in the fight between the divorced parents. What sin have the scientists committed?

I am also reminded of the bad old days in America, when a slave, if caught with a book, was severely punished for just wanting to learn. Clinton himself, having come from a deprived family, had all the opportunity that this country could offer for his education, rose to where he is, but could not understand the anguish that the Indian scientists are going through, because their books were snatched from their hands and they were evicted from their "schools". How is this different from Wallace standing in front of the college preventing blacks from entering the college? What a paradox? What a retrograde policy? I want to see a turnaround in this punitive policy.
