Amazon.com Program Signs Member No. 100,000

Now this is networking.

The online bookseller Amazon.com has enrolled the 100,000th Web site for the Amazon.com Associates Program, a so-called affiliate network that pays a commission of up to 15 percent for each sale referred from a site. Members simply recommend titles at their sites and establish links that enable direct purchases from Amazon.com.

"It expands our presence to the far corners of the Web," said Shawn Haynes, who runs the program for Amazon.com. The 100,000th site, signed on Thursday, was the Miami-based Careernet.com, a nationwide recruitment and job-posting service that will recommend career-guidance books to visitors. Other recently enrolled, high-profile associates include Intuit's Quicken.com, Compaq Computer, and ABCnews.com.
