fund manager "window dressing" is usually done at the end
of the quarter.

But, August is seasonally a bad/slow month. Fund managers
lock up profits, maybe throw out their dogs, and go on
vacation - mostly the first and third.

If fund managers have made their quarter of around 20% by this
time, they lock up profit for the rest of the year, and their
biggest concern is not to screw up...so they do nothing, except
pick "sure winners" and sell anything that remotely looks like
bad luck. They just want to keep their jobs, and usually
20% is pretty darn good - close enough to the S&P500.

Hey, that's the way I would think too if my job were on the line.

>>Optimistic? I will be as long as I see no bad news.<<

That's my take also. I will also add, provided Japan doesn't
cause the markets to go into chaos and we see a crash. But,
probably, we'll all be selling into a panic if that happens -
might as well hold anyways.

Hey look at this. I'm just reviewing some
of the other stocks today, and it's hard to see why
there are any extra $$ flowing to 3Com. Why would anybody want
to invest in 3Com now when they could make $$ in the
stocks below. In fact, one of our new posters was
suggesting this previously.

DELL +5 3/8

MSFT +2 3/4

AOL +9 7/8

CSCO +4 1/2

YAHOO +9 1/8

These are some incredible returns. Lots of $$ flowed into
these guys. Maybe people selling COMS to buy some of the
above.
