Hi Dale,

>I personally happen to be in Richard's camp on this one and don't have the interest in writing such.<

No problem, just checking into the possibilities. Like I said, different strokes for different folks.

>Additionally, If I were Gary I would never allow any 3d party to write into a database that I were furnishing as a service. Too many chances of a screwup and then trying to figure out how to straighten it out.<

Perhaps. I suppose it depends on how the database is constructed, how well documented it is, how robust the access to the database is, etc. How about a separate database where the user could create/build his own data and not mess with the EOD data supplied by Gary? Like I said, just investigating the possibilities. In any case, I think "buyer beware" would certainly apply to anything not endorsed and supported by QP2. Besides, what's the most that could happen? You'd have to restore the database from a backup (and everyone does a backup before using an unknown product, don't they? :-) ). OTOH, I can see why Gary wouldn't want to bothered by a deluge of questions/problems when there are much more pressing issues to address. Such as supporting the 3rd party vendors that already have accepted products and just need to include native access to QP2 data (a much higher leverage of his time and efforts).

>What about a scan input list for each new group comprised of the stocks in that group? From there you could println a "," file and then import that into Excel or whatever..?

I could, however write you a macro in Excel that would ...<

Thanks for the offer. I'm sure there are several ways to work around the problem, but, in the end, it would probably take just as long as simply waiting for IRL to build the indices using virtual. And I'd still have to scan the results in MS.

thanks
