The NBase / Netcom Systems seminar will be held in Windward Business Park, Alpharetta, GA if you would like to attend. Netcom Systems manufacturers the LAN & Network test gear that all of the independent testing labs use for their performance reports on networking equipment. The local rep is a friend of mine, and he will bring the necessary modules to test everything we put into the MRV switches. We will probably have two switches with a lot of 100MB ports in each, and several GE and/or ATM. The switches will be connected together by GE or ATM. Netcom has traffic generators / performance analyzers which will attach to the 100BaseT, GE and ATM ports. If we over book the switching fabric then we should see some lost packets or congestion control. The final equipment configuration should provide an excellent opportunity to learn just how everything works. NBase will be providing the morning speaker and equipment. Tim is going to speak on Ethernet and the migration of the technology to where we are today, with a look at tomorrow. We are going to run an ad in the Atlanta Journal newspaper the week before the lab, and mail out invitations to local businesses. jack
