But seriously, volratio looks for volume that's either strong or below average. The idea is that low volume could precede a move to the upside after a retracement.

On the matter of QRS, Andy has found that stocks with QRS greater than 84 and less than 40 perform best. Those in the middle perform the worst. The ones with QRS less than 40 may be laggards that have nowhere to go but up, I suppose. The scan is for long candidates, not shorts.

Andy does use MACD(13,34,8) in this scan. It's not a typo. It's a variation on MACD(13,34,89) that gives shorter-term signals because of the shorter-term signal line.

As for if p<-29, p is variable: You can change it. There's an "else" statement that takes care of p when it isn't less than -29.
