Franz, the RBOC's do not have a mindset of a competitor, they are merging, circling the wagons like Western Soldiers surrounded by Indians. They do not wish to fight, nor to lessen any margins, nor to put in any new services. The last time they did that they lost money big time,ISDN. They have had ADSL for over 10 years, they do not plan on putting it in widespread now,or anytime in the future.
They do not care about market share, for they are the telephone companies, monopolists to the end.
I do not see the RBOC's going after the commercial market at all anytime before the turn of the century, they are targetting SOHO and the business markets,if anything. But even then,ADSL does not work very well to say the least, and the provisioning is enormously expensive, and RBOC's like cash. Hey, I hear BellSouth is the most aggressive, but when I went down to their office, they were digging a moat around it,and filling it with alligators wearing pin-stripe suits and answering the the name Goldstein ESQ.
