Jane,
I think Jesus said he who is forgiven much, loves much. And it follows that he who is forgiven little, loves less? He was making an example about Mary Magdelan who was forgiven much and was showing her gratitude in her expression of love for her master. A person who has been living by a "be good" code all his life and maybe done well at it may not feel the need to repent so strongly as someone like Mary. It will be more difficult for that person to see the need for Jesus and salvation in the context of their clean, wholesome life. It is difficult to save a "good" man, as good as any one can be in this world anyhow. I guess I always felt the need for God all my life, I always knew I was on the wrong track for a lot of it so seeing the need was not so hard.

It is also hard for an analytical, cerebral person to accept something by faith. In this world, seeing is believing but in God's kingdom "believing is seeing". The faith has to come before the proof. Yet when we seek Him then He even provides that faith at the right time. We are truly in His hands. He said those who seek Him will find Him and whoever comes to Him He will not cast out.

In Jesus,

Bob
