Hmmm, a contest between a long term player and a trader. It'd take a couple of years to see Ibexx's return and in the meantime, we could watch you make 30,000 trades. That would be as much fun as watching a cricket tournament in super slow motion.

Have you considered entering Yahoo Finance's monthly tournament? It's custom made for traders. Check it out at biz.yahoo.com, and post your Yahoo trading name on the thread so we can watch the action.

Be kind to traders, they keep the market liquid!

Unfortunately, based on my experience on this
thread, most 'short-term traders' disappeared
within 12(or even shorter) months or so. People
who has been on this thread for more than a
year are almost exclusively buy and hold type.

RE: I believe some sort of comparison is needed to draw a conclusion of any kind.

My own experience is about the only comparison that would
help me. As a buy and hold type I get to see my kids,
sleep at night, and not worry about my blood pressure
while making money with a 3+ year time horizon on every
single purchase.

As a trader, I make money but have none of the 'extras'
mentioned above.

I have done both and know a lot of folks that do both.
There is nothing like the thrill of a trade gone right,
I admit, but that hollow pit in the stomach when the
market lets you know that you are as clueless as everyone
else is what makes all the traders I know edgy and
makes them eager for contests instead of being willing
to just go take a nap.

Not trying to argue really, just relating my own experience.
