<<Hmm, it seems like we have a lot of selling today. Don't be so panic. Is there anyone still holding with me? :-) Duke>>

Duke,

I'm not selling. I can't believe that now that the company (and stock price) is on tract, that Mory would destroy it with an acquisition.

After the last year, if this happens IMO I believe that the ASND cord investors will run for the hills and stay there. Management has got to know that.

Joe

I'm holding my '99 LEAPs. Although I believe the rumor, and don't believe that short term it's going to do my LEAPs any good, I do believe that the price will recover and then advance by year end.

I also like the rumored SRA acquisition. I'm not a telecom technician. I don't know SS7 (yes, I read all djane's articles, but still..) or servers from waiters. But, SRA offers intellectual capital, (and maybe technology), in an area that should be of major interest to Ascend, viz. fault-tolerant operation. One of the major objections to putting voice and important data applications onto IP is the high IP failure rate when compared to voice networks. If Ascend's equipment, software, maintenance strategy (and planning expertise?) can help their customers meet or exceed voice network uptime, that could be a major advantage. And, as many have pointed out, SRA hasn't done well and is consequently cheap.

I'm not good at analogies, but will share one that has been bugging me. Someone bought OJ Simpson's former house, and this week razed it. Presumably, that land alone was worth the purchase price of the house. Maybe businesses do the same thing sometime: buy a business, then raze it to preserve something more valuable?

Just some thoughts. BWDIK?
