There is always a price at which you just can't pass up the deal! L-Star 1 was nearly finished, so it could be nearly ready to go barring any major changes to the critical systems--it would all depend on the use and intended orbital slot whether it was a good idea to buy or not. If it would take massive changes(=longtime), you might as well build a new more powerful bird. The L-Star sats have 16 Ku-band transponders each. We'll see--the good part of investing in Loral is taht you know Mr. Schwartz will make the right strategic move!
