To Louis Riley,

My compliments on your due diligence on KTel. I specifically recall that your $50 (post split) target was a one-year target. When asked about the hype driven surge you said something to the effect of... It was a one year target, not a two week target. Where do you think Ktel will be in May 1999? Will the company still be in business?

Also, I find it funny that you dropped coverage of Ktel because management would not provide you with information for your "financial model".

Here are some other questions for you:

What was the "financial model" you used for your original target? What did you base your valuation on? Surely you did more than just pick a nice round number. How did you expect the company to succeed in the online world? How familiar were you with management when you brought out "coverage"? If you were valuing ktel as an Internet company, what % of revenue did you expect to come from Internet - related operations? How did you expect the company to fund its Internet operations? And finally, how large (if any) of a position did you own in Ktel when you went out with your recommendation and at what point did you sell? Also... do you have a series 7 license? series 63? have you ever studied securities analysis?

In generatl, analyst recommendations, IMO, should be long -term and based on sound analysis, not speculation and short term hype. But that is just my two cents... I think short term plays should be the realm of gamblers, traders and brokers, not analysts...

Have a good weekend.
