Yes, but the feds don't have the money, manpower and time to go after several hundred thousand gamblers. It would require that they actually seize your computer to get a conviction. They would get some, but the majority would get away with it.

Well, the only gambling I do is with stocks. This battle will be waged in the court room, not on your hard drive. Since the gov can't very well restrict access to the gambling sites without violating your rights, they would have to be able to trace money transactions. All the money involved in the actual gambling can be handled entirely overseas through offshore accounts-not traceable! As to the gov attempting to lock out certain sites, I think the issue is are the American people willing to give up their fundamental rights. I think not. I know not. Sure, the gov might get the ban on the law books, but it will be contested-severely. There have been many attempts by the governmemt to limit your right to free speech and free access to information, but it ALWAYS fails in the end. They simply cannot openly challenge the constitution like that and be successful. People will rage, even if they don't care about gambling-civil liberties are at stake.
