HEY MW.... My original post is in double <<>> below for effect... Lowlights from your response are in triple<<<>>> for effect.... Techguy said - <<I love this - For doubters of the technology a DEMO in some hotel or office building. IMHO Key Word "Demo". I would love for them to actually demonstrate the internet access service on a real live cable system instead of cobbling together something that "looks like what our service would look like if we actually had a cable company to carry us". If you wanted to see internet access "for real" in someones house you couldn't. You know why? It is not available in any homes. Ask them how many real subs they ahve tested the internet access with. I bet the answer is "0".>>> MW said <<<You bet the answer is "0"? Do you know? Have you asked them?>>> As a matter of fact I have...Thanks for asking... The answer? ZERO! These guys have never had the opportunity to offer internet access to anybody because the deals they have done with Century and Marcus were failures. The deal with Cablevision resulted in no rollout of anything to anybody. Don't ask me these questions... call the cable operators and ask them. <<<You'll see them in a couple of months when the service is launched on Insight Cable>>> Gosh somebody needs to catch up... They have owed their shareholders subscribers from Marcus, Century and Cablevision for a couple of years now. Nothing has ever happened. The same will happen with Insight. I understand that the proposed service will be turned on in the fourth quarter with Insight. If it actually is rolled out it will be late. They always are. <<<Michael Willner, Insights pres. and CEO is .... one of the most respected men in his industry?,>>> I am sure he is well respected and nothing I have posted is meant to take away from that... <<<Now maybe, just maybe, as hard as it might be to imagine, Mr. Willner had SEEN THE SERVICE WORK,>>> Maybe he has seen the Interactive Channel work (more than likely in a demo or the twenty subscribers in Dallas with Marcus) but he has never seen the internet access product work in a commercial environment because it has never been offered to subscribers. Some euphoric shareholders have said SRCM could be comparable to Yahoo in value - even MW has said the $B word in regards to the unproven patents. If you are going to make that comparison realize that this is like comnparing SRCM to Yahoo before Yahoo got their website up. Ask SRCM questions about how they will technically offer the internet access service. Ask them to see it on a real live cable system. You won't like the answers. <<<Does anyone know of the lengths that were taken to insure the evaluation of SRCM's technology was done above reproach?>>> The Insight deal was done and announced because if SRCM did not announce something on Monday or Tuesday of this past week the stock would be below 10 as we speak. These guys knew this and - gosh - how convenient - a board member with a carriage deal. In depth evaluation? Call Insight and ask them what happens next with the implementation of the SRCM service. They don't know. Ask them questions about the service in general...They aren't familiar wtih it. I am not accusing Mr Willner of any impropriety or denigrating his character. I am sure SRCM would have eventually done a deal with his company. However, his company has about 250K subs in mostly bad rural media markets. I understand that they have acquired the management for another 250K subs but big deal. This is a small time outfit. Show me a real deal. They need big deals with big players soon. These big deals should have already been signed but haven't. They even admitted on their conference call that revenues from Insight would not be realized until first quarter 1999. <<<Mr. Willner had SEEN THE SERVICE WORK, WAS VERY INTERESTED IN THE CO., AND WAS THEN ASKED TO JOIN THE BOARD TO GET MORE INDUSTRY EXPERIENCING INVOLVED.>>> Cable experience for SRCM is good because they need all the help they can get. They have no credible cable people. This company has to be bought out but it is an empty shell with $100MM in debt. MW - I ahve followed your comments on this thread for a long time. I admire your optimism but this company doesn't have it. They are basically reduced to a portfolio of un-proven patents because in digital they are in a crowded field. They do not have a technology, product or service to leverage with the patents so they will never sign meaningful cable deals. The unproven patents may be worth something but the bondholders are senior and will get what scraps are left over. Good Luck.
