Ascend to buy Stratus -- report

Reuters Story - July 31, 1998 14:00

PALO ALTO, Calif., July 31 (Reuters) - Ascend
Communications Inc. plans to acquire Stratus Computer Inc, next
week, the San Jose Mercury News reported Friday.
The newspaper said the deal would be completed through an
exchange of stock valued at about $800 million.
