Immi, the new Portmaster 4 is high density RAC aimed squarely at the large ISP and carrier market. I think this product alone, is why LU bought Livingston. Now, whether LU can successfully market this where Livingston had no hope, is another question.

The GRF is definitely not ASNDs bread butter. No argument here. However, it does compete squarely against LUs lower end PacketStar switches. ASND just doesn't market this thing very hard any more.

Everyone thinks the Yurie product is an ATM switch. Its not. It is an ATM access concentrator. It takes legacy interfaces and concentrates these into an ATM stream. Typically cheaper to do this than waste precious chassis slots in an ATM switch on lower speed stuff. This box typically front-ends an ATM switch, such as a 500 or 550. This is exactly what ASNDs SA line does. Except Yurie has a larger market share, perhaps the largest for this niche product.
